Position Summary

The CDL provides parenting education/family support and high-quality early childhood programming for children ages birth to 6 years. Responsibilities include functioning as a head teacher in an infant/toddler classroom; assessment and communication of child progress; maintain State of Michigan Childcare Licensing Regulations, NAEYC Accreditation standards and Great Start to Quality standards; mentoring and evaluating adult learners; active participation in staff meetings, trainings and workshops; maintain professional conduct per NAEYC Code of Ethics. 

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

The job requires: An four-year degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or similar field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in providing child care and program development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

At least 3 semester hours or 4.5 CEUs in infant/toddler development and care practices within 6 months of hire. 

A minimum of 3 years successful teaching experience as a lead teacher with infant/toddler aged children; experience with linguistically and culturally diverse families; experience supervising adults; certification in Infant, Child and Adult CPR and First Aid.
