Position Summary

Michigan State University invites applicants for a full-time postdoctoral research associate for the NIH-funded National Center for Health and Justice integration for Suicide Prevention (P50). Aspiring independent researchers will be trained broadly in implementation science, mental health services research, suicide prevention, and work in legal/justice settings. In addition to one-on-one mentoring in the researchers' areas of interest, they will also receive training in grant writing, manuscript development, health systems research methods, quantitative and qualitative methods, ethics, and professional/career development. In addition to activities at Michigan State University, the postdoctoral research associate will attend training activities with the postdoctoral fellows in Dr. Brian Ahmedani’s NIMH-funded T32 program at Henry Ford Health System and will also have access to Dr. Lauren Weinstock’s NIMH-funded T32 training activities at Brown University as appropriate.

The P50 is led by Dr. Jennifer Johnson at Michigan State University, Dr. Brian Ahmedani at Henry Ford Health System, and Dr. Lauren Weinstock at Brown University.  The candidate filling this position will work with Dr. Johnson on the implementation science activities of the Center Methods Core. They will oversee collection and analysis of Center implementation science measures and assist with implementation science activities (e.g., drafting change packets and implementation blueprints in partnership with project teams) for Center research projects. They will also oversee analysis of these measures and will assist the Methods Core and project teams with manuscript writing.  

This position is a 2-year fixed-term appointment.  Work location is in Flint, Michigan.

Required Degree

Doctorate- psychology or other clinical disciplines, public health, health services research, health policy, or related field

Minimum Requirements

Successful applicants will have:

  • Ph.D., DrPH in psychology or other clinical disciplines, public health, health services research, health policy, or related field
  • training and/or experience in implementation science research.

Desired Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Peer-reviewed journal articles published or in press, including first-author article/s
  • Training and/or experience in implementation science research
  • Experience/training in mental health, suicide prevention, and/or police, legal, or justice settings
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with a broad range of colleagues and interdisciplinary teams
  • Quantitative analysis skills
  • Strong organizational skills
