Television Studio Coordinator

Position Summary

The Television Studio Coordinator with WKAR works directly with the Production Manager to plan, execute, and coordinate required production support for in-studio shows, events, and remote productions including staging, lighting, and set construction. Serves in a variety of in-studio production roles such as camera operator, jib operator, floor director, graphics, audio operator, and technical director. Work with producers, production manager, events coordinator, and operations manager to ensure successful productions. Use technical knowledge and experience to help train production interns in all aspects of production. Serve on remote productions in various roles as needed.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical or vocational school in Telecommunications with coursework in television and film production; 1-3 years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in film and audio production, working with television equipment and lighting techniques; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license. Will require some nights and weekends. Negligible disagreeable working conditions. This job requires significant physical effort and involves lifting of over 75 pounds and climbing 26-75% of the time.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years or more of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in film and audio production, working with television equipment and lighting techniques; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and creative thinking,
  • Dynamic, accomplished, responsive and collaborative individual with the ability to think and act strategically;
  • Experience in camera jib operation
  • Knowledge of post-production workflows and media management from production to post
  • Knowledge of livestream productions and workflows
