This position is part of an NSF funded project to unravel links between photorespiration and one carbon metabolism using isotopic labeling approaches. These approaches will give the candidate experience in working with mass flux analysis models, as well as both 13C and 18O label tracing. The ideal candidate does not need experience with plant systems but does need a background in GC-MS and LC-MS/MS metabolomic approaches. The candidate will use our unique labeling approach and gas exchange instruments to investigate a key issue at the junction between climate change and human nutrition.
The positions are available immediately and for one year from date of hire with the possibility of extension.
Doctorate -PhD in Biochemistry, chemistry, or a Plant Science
Experience in GC-MS and LC-MS/MS metabolomic approaches and methods development
The ideal applicant would have additional experience in gas exchange measurements and gas analysis. Comfort with Matlab would also be beneficial.
