This position is an equal split of 50-50 between academic advising and responsibilities associated with teaching livestock evaluation and coaching the intercollegiate livestock judging team.
Serve as academic advisor to undergraduate students in the Department of Animal Science. Work with faculty and students to develop professional mentoring relationships for juniors and seniors. Participate in both new student orientation and recruiting programs throughout the year. Assist students with internships and job placement.
This individual will be active in instructing undergraduate livestock and carcass evaluation educational courses and programs. The position will be responsible for coaching the Michigan State University Collegiate Livestock Judging Team. The successful applicant will be encouraged to foster relationships with the livestock industry, high school counselors and teachers, youth livestock educators, and diverse communities throughout Michigan.
Masters -Agricultural related discipline
Master of Science in an agricultural-related discipline
Teaching and/or advising experience
Livestock and/or meats judging team experience
Experience in student teaching and advising at the collegiate level
Experience with teaching livestock selection and carcass evaluation courses
Experience with academic and career planning assistance
Experience in recruitment and student retention
Experience in program management and evaluation
