Position Summary

Dr. Adrea Truckenmiller in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Special Education (http://education.msu.edu/cepse/) seeks a post-doctoral fellow/research associate to contribute to the dissemination of research on elementary and middle school-aged literacy development. The fellow will engage in project management, data analysis, preparing data sets for open access, presentations, and publications to reach the grant goals (see the grant description at https://ies.ed.gov/funding/grantsearch/details.asp?ID=4633). Depending on the applicant’s interests, there may also be opportunities to evaluate reading screening and reading intervention practices or to teach courses within special education teacher preparation.

Required Degree

Doctorate -special education or educational psychology

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have an earned doctoral degree in special education or educational psychology or a related field. ABD candidates will be considered if evidence is provided that the doctoral degree will be completed within 3 months of the start of the appointment.

Experience with evidence-based practices related to writing, reading, and/or language development. Experience with data analysis of assessment and/or instruction of literacy development. Experience with or demonstrated capacity to learn to teach special education courses for preservice or in-service teachers. Evidence of effective science communication skills.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with scoring children’s writing samples. Experience with project management and leading a team. Experience with or desire to learn the application of implementation science in education.
