Position Summary
Two postdoctoral positions at Soilborne Pathology and Ecology Lab (Rojas Lab) at MSU are available. Candidates will research fungal and oomycete pathogens in horticultural and agronomic crops using omics and applied approaches. Projects aim to understand the genetic diversity and interaction of fungal species affecting crops of economic importance and the research will advance understanding of the biology of pathogens leveraging different omic tools.
Responsibilities will also include:
- Coordinating laboratory/greenhouse/field experiments
- Assisting in planning and designing experiments
- Conducting experiments
- Analyzing data,
- Other assigned duties
Additionally, depending on the interests of the postdoc, they may further collaborate with other team members to:
(A) use pathogen population genetics to explore potential eco-evolutionary feedbacks,
(B) use high-throughput sequencing to explore potential feedbacks between disease and the host microbiome, or
(C) design and conduct other research that supports project goals and the postdoc’s interests.
The postdoc will also have the opportunity to receive training in scientific communication and to participate in outreach and education programs supporting the program’s broader impacts. The postdoc will receive mentoring and support to achieve their career goals, whatever those may be.
