Position Summary

A Research Associate position is available in the Gilad Lab in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at Michigan State University.  

The research project focuses on:

  • Machine learning based protein engineering.
  • Constructing synthetic biology circuits in mammalian cells. 
  • Imaging using bioengineered cells in a rodent. 
  • Developing innovative approaches for imaging cancer treatment. 

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, give presentations on research, write papers, and provide progress reports to the Principal Investigator, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the lab.

This position is a 12-month fixed term appointment. Renewal of position is based on funding and performance.

Required Degree

Doctorate -molecular biology, computational biology

Minimum Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent degree in Chemical or Biomedical Engineering or related field.
  • Excellent communication skills are essential. 

Desired Qualifications

Experience with one or more of the following skills is an advantage:

  • background in MRI/NMR
  • advantage for experience with CEST MRI
  • experience with working with rodents is an advantage
  • experience in molecular biology and protein engineering
  • Computational biology/ Machine learning
