Position Summary

A post-doctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Robert Abramovitch in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Michigan State University.     

We seek a post-doctoral Research Associate to conduct research examining Mycobacterium tuberculosis and nontuberculous mycobacterial pathogenesis and drug development. These studies will focus on chemical biology and genetic studies examining MmpL3 inhibition and resistance in mycobacteria. Strong skills in microbiology, genetics, molecular biology, antibiotic development and biochemistry are expected. Experience working in a Biosafety Level 3 lab and using experimental mouse models will be viewed favorably. The successful applicant will be independent, creative and approach their scholarship with a growth mindset. Strong writing and presentation skills and the ability to work well in a team are additional important qualities in a successful applicant. The applicant must have experience in microbiology appropriate for work in a Biosafety Level 3 lab and hold a PhD in a field related to microbiology, genetics, biochemistry or chemical biology. 

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to interact with a wide range of researchers in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry and pharmacology and toxicology.

This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term position with reappointment contingent on satisfactory performance and available funding.
