Position Summary
The School of Criminal Justice at Michigan State University is recruiting one exceptional early-career stage research investigator to undertake an intensive postdoctoral position tied to funded and unfunded research on community violence and life course criminology. This mentored postdoctoral position will be overseen by Chris Melde, PhD. This position will engage with community partners, including police, corrections, courts, schools, and community-based interventionists on violence prevention initiatives, as well as engage in an ongoing federally funded project on the impact of a school-based intervention on life course outcomes in early adulthood. The successful candidate will engage in all aspects of these projects.
This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal up to an additional year, contingent on performance.

Minimum Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field of study (criminal justice, psychology, sociology, epidemiology, public health, social work) earned by the start of the appointment.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in relevant research in the areas of community violence or life course/developmental criminology, including published manuscripts (as co-author or first author); may be included in doctoral degree training time.
