Position Summary
The Michigan State University and Hurley Children’s Hospital Pediatric Public Health Initiative (https://msuhurleypphi.org/), under the direction of Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, seeks to hire a Flint Registry Data Analyst for the Flint Registry (https://www.flintregistry.org/) project. A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)-designated public health authority, the Flint Registry’s goal is to connect people who were impacted by the Flint Water Crisis to resources and programs that serve to minimize the effects of lead on their health while promoting wellness and recovery.
The Data Analyst will be responsible for:
• Designing analysis plan and using statistical, economic, relational principles and techniques to analyze and interpret data
• Preparing reports and writing publications
• Implementing best practice research methodology
• Conducting literature reviews related to research, evaluation, and assessment as directed or as needed for projects
• Coordinating projects independently, and collaborate with team member to complete assigned tasks
• Supporting the work of Flint Registry to promote use of accurate, clear data and information
• Responding to requests for data or information from FR team

This is a full-time, 9-month end-dated position with possible extension contingent upon funding renewal. This position is eligible for the extensive benefits package that Michigan State University offers its support staff. Remote work is an option.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business, Economics, Research Methodology, Statistics or Mathematics with relevant course work in computer programming; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in programming, statistical methods, data base management or data collection; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
Advanced degree in Statistics or program with emphasis on statistics and research methodology
Familiar with the Flint Community/Registry project
3-5 years of experience with managing data sets and analyzing data with SPSS and/or SAS.
3-5 years of experience preparing publications and reports
Experience with REDCap
Strong organizational skills
Adept at working in large, interdisciplinary teams
Quick learner and strong sense of responsibility
