Clinical Coordinator
Position Summary
This is a University faculty position with academic rank based upon the appointee’s academic and experiential qualifications. The incumbent who serves in this position is responsible for the overall development of supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPEs) necessary to ensure students receive the clinical experiences required to meet program outcomes and accreditation standards. As part of the faculty team, this individual is also involved in program activities, generating and delivering classroom lectures and clinical skills instruction within the basic medical and clinical science topics for which he/she is qualified.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Participate in the development and revisions of program mission, vision, goals, meetings and ongoing program self-assessment / program evaluation activities.
- Perform coordination of instruction in all aspects of the clinical year including clinical site development, modification, monitoring, curriculum development, curriculum evaluation, remedial instruction, and maintenance of clinical rotation schedule for supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPEs).
- Teaching as Instructor of Record for assigned courses within the PA Medicine Curriculum.
- Chair the PA Medicine Promotion committee.
- Participate in accreditation activities and maintain Clinical Curriculum in compliance with ARC-PA requirements.
- Oversee administration of all classroom activity, student evaluation/assessment, and evaluation of instruction for clinical year students.
- Recruit, develop and monitor all clinical sites and affiliation agreements.
- Oversee performance of clinical site visits to establish/evaluate rotations and/or supervise and evaluate students during their clinical rotations.
- Ongoing sustainability and development of the clinical portion of the PA program.
- Orient preceptors and staff members at clinical sites regarding objectives and expectations for supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPEs).
- Participate in admissions processes by scoring applications, interviewing candidates, student recruitment and rendering student selection decisions.
- Participate in activities of state, regional, and national organizations to promote a positive image of the PA concept within academic, lay, and professional communities.
- Perform Academic advising, mentoring, instruct, and evaluate students within areas of expertise as assigned.
- Represent the Physician Assistant Program through service on College and University-level committees.
- Pursue professional development activities such as clinical practice, scholarly activities, or an advanced degree.
- Generate and deliver classroom lectures and clinical skills instruction within the basic medical and clinical science topics for which he/she is assigned.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Physician Assistant
Minimum Requirements
- Master's degree in physician assistant studies from an accredited program
- Current NCCPA Certification
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant clinical experience with at least 2 years precepting/instructing PA students or medical students
- A valid physician assistant license for the State of Michigan or eligibility to obtain such licensure.
OR
- Doctoral degree, DO or MD with active Board certification and state licensure in Michigan or eligibility to obtain such licensure.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant clinical experience with at least 2 years precepting/instructing PA students or medical students
Desired Qualifications
Self-motivated with refined organizational skills. Strong interpersonal abilities with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with students, staff, faculty, administrators, and the public. Enthusiastic about working in a collaborative environment. Demonstrate abilities in teaching and curriculum development. Prior experience preparing for and participating in an accreditation process.
