Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
The Potato Outreach Program is seeking a full-time temporary professional aide beginning April 4th, 2022. The applicant will assist in planting research plots, organizing supplies, and cutting potato seed. Day to day duties include travel to field sites around Michigan, planting research trials, cutting and organizing potatoes, data collection, and data entry. This position is based at the MSU Agronomy farm with frequent travel to research plots. This position provides an opportunity for the research aide to learn about commercial potato production and on-farm research in Michigan. This position has an expected end date of 11/4/22. Required qualifications: Drivers license, ability to follow protocols with attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, ability to list at least 50 lbs, ability to work outdoors in adverse conditions for long periods of time, punctuality and willingness to work long hours if needed (some weeks will be over 40 hours with overtime pay).
Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with agricultural research, ability to operate a forklift, ability to dive a truck and trailer, previous work experience in an agricultural environment
