Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
Position Summary:
The American Semester Program & Exchange (ASP&E), housed within the Office for Education Abroad, facilitates single-semester or one-year study experiences at Michigan State University for international students. With an underpinning focus on international student success, this temporary ASP&E coordinator will be responsible for processing student applications, responding to ongoing student inquiries, facilitating procedures related to immigration requests, and handling a variety of administrative processes in collaboration with other MSU units. The temporary ASP coordinator has additional functions, such as securing student housing assignments, providing pre-arrival advice, organizing student events, assisting with student orientation, promotion and outreach activities, and other duties as assigned. Key functions of this position include communicating with MSU academic colleges regarding students’ course requests and partnering with institutions abroad regarding the logistics of ASP&E experiences.
Education and Experience
Required
- A bachelor's degree in a related field such as international relations, foreign language, area studies, communication, higher education administration
- Three years of professional work experience in an international education setting
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Work Period: June 1 or as soon as possible
Work Hours: 40 per week, flexible, with the possibility of some evening and weekend work
Modality: Flexible, with the possibility of 100% remote

Experience living, working, or studying abroad; demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills; proficiency in a language other than English
