Position Summary

The Lead Recruiter will coordinate with the Michigan Department of Education Migrant Education Program and local K12 schools in Michigan to accurately determine and document program eligibility. In addition, the position will also assistant with training, reporting and data collection. The position requires flexibility in scheduling and the ability to work with a very diverse population. This is an off date position that is extendable dependent on annual renewal of funding.
 
MSU ID&R (Identification and Recruitment) recruiters will be responsible for locating and arranging meetings with migrant and seasonal farm worker families. The recruiter will interview the family to determine if the family has met federal requirements for the program. If families are found eligible for the program, recruiters must accurately complete a certificate of eligibility and attach the required documentation. Recruiters will be responsible for keeping detailed records of contacts and work performed. Weekly reports, forms, and other documents will be required to be maintained and submitted in a timely manner. Interviews will be done on location in migrant camps, at family‚Äôs homes, their workplace or by phone when in person activities are prohibited. A great deal of flexibility is required to accommodate the hours of availability of many families and interviews generally take place in the evenings or on weekends.
 
Additionally the Lead Recruiter will assist in training of recruiters statewide and participate in national level presentations. The Lead Recruiter must be proficient at interpreting rules and regulations regarding student eligibility. The Lead Recruiter will be asked to mentor new recruiters and provide ongoing support on recruitment strategies. The Lead Recruiter will also assist with data collection, data entry, and data analysis. This will require expertise in state and federal migrant data systems and unit specific systems to collect and represent data. The Lead Recruiter will provide technical assistance to other programs in these areas.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Social Science, Education, Business, Liberal Arts, or related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive experience working with college students and programming or similar related volunteer activities; experience with word processing, database, desktop publishing, web page design and maintenance software; may require bilingual abilities in a specific language; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid drivers license required; Ability to read, write and speak Spanish fluently.

Desired Qualifications

Experience as or working with migrant and seasonal farmworkers.

Experience with Rosetta Stone or other ESL software.

5 years or more experience with the Migrant Education Program.

Bachelor's degree or a combination of 4 years of relevant experience and education.

Experience with MIS2000 and MSIX data systems Experience with GIS or Google Maps, Ability to read, write and speak Spanish fluently.
