Position Summary

The Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Department of Pediatrics and Human Development is a pediatric primary and specialty care unit dedicated to providing excellent patient care and medical education. Our faculty engage in a wide range of clinical, educational, and research activities focused on improving the lives of the children and families we serve.

We are currently searching for a tenure-system researcher-clinician to join our department at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will spend 65% - 75% of their effort researching means to improve access to health care for underserved children, particularly those with sickle cell disease and the sickle cell trait. The remaining time will be spent provisioning outpatient medical care and teaching medical students. This position will be based in Flint, Michigan.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Medicine

Minimum Requirements

Qualified candidates must possess an MD or DO degree and have at least three (3) years of experience provisioning care to patients. Only those candidates certified for eligible for certification by the American Board of Pediatrics will be considered. Applicants must also be eligible for licensure as a physician by the State of Michigan and must be eligible for privileges at our partnered institutions.

  • Background in public health (MPH degree preferred)
  • Demonstrated history of extramural funding
  • Strong publication record
