Position Summary
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar position in the area of power systems and smart grids. The successful candidate will engage in cutting-edge research, contribute to innovative projects, and support the team at the E-RESILIENCY Research Lab in advancing the field of power system stability, distributed energy resource (DER) integration, and smart grid resilience.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage research projects focused on power systems, smart grids, and DER integration.

Develop and implement machine learning models, optimization algorithms, and hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) simulations to improve power system stability and efficiency.

Mentor and supervise graduate students.

Engage in entrepreneurial activities, with opportunities to establish a small business or startup.

Write and submit high-quality research papers and proposals

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Power and Energy Systems.

Demonstrated expertise in machine learning applications, optimization problems, and hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) testing.

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++

Prior research experience in the area of power system stability and DER integration.

Strong track record of publications

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Department Statement
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has strong interdisciplinary research and educational programs on a foundation of core electrical and computer engineering disciplines and provides first-class education while engaging in research at the frontiers of knowledge. The Department has 44 faculty members, including 14 IEEE Fellows, 14 NSF CAREER, 3 DARPA YFA, one AFOSR YIP awardee, and four University Distinguished Faculty members. The Department has strong research programs in all major areas of electrical and computer engineering, with annual research expenditures of over $16 million. Faculty in the Department are leading several federal and industry-supported centers including the Fraunhofer USA Center Midwest (CMW) for Coatings and Diamond Technologies. The Department has accredited B.S. degree programs in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering.
