Position Summary

The fixed-term faculty member will teach one section of HB 347 The Food service Distribution Channel (3 credits) each fall semester.  HB 347 is a course that covers the business and management of the food service distribution channel, including relationships among food service manufacturers, brokers, and distributors, value-added services, the Request for proposal (RFP) process, and current issues and future trends.  Teaching responsibilities may change, within the applicant’s area of expertise, based on the needs of The School of Hospitality Business.  There are no research requirements for this position. Additional summer teaching and administrative opportunities are possible with additional compensation for the ideal candidate.   

Required Degree

Masters -Hospitality Business or related field

Minimum Requirements

  • The minimum academic qualification is a master’s degree in a relevant area of concentration/discipline with at least one degree in hospitality business or related field. 
  • The ideal candidate will also have work experience from within the hospitality business supply chain. 

Desired Qualifications

  • Food service purchasing or food service sales experience preferred. 
  • A record of excellent teaching skills at the undergraduate level to a diverse student body is desired.

Founded in 1927, The School of Hospitality Business (https://hospitalitybusiness.broad.msu.edu/) is the second-oldest hospitality school in the nation. It has launched the careers of industry presidents at some of the world’s leading hospitality companies and includes an alumni network of more than 10,000 professionals in management careers across hotels, restaurants, clubs, sports and entertainment, the cruise industry, and hospitality real estate development. The School of Hospitality Business has 11 full-time tenure-track faculty, 8 part-time faculty, 4 full-time academic staff, and 3 full-time administrative staff.  Currently, The School of Hospitality Business serves about 600 students and is ranked as the top hospitality program at a public university in the US, top-three overall, and top-twenty, globally.

Broad College of Business:
