Military Science Business Coordinator

Position Summary

The Business Coordinator within Military Science will; maintain historic and current databases regarding student, staff, alumni, donors and friends of the department; act as Hospitality Coordinator by continuing to foster good relationships with donors, execute events, ceremonies, and meetings for the department, staff, outside guests and students; serve as a liaison with Lansing Community College and Davenport University to ensure they receive scheduling updates and course descriptions as well as proper credits and grade reporting for their students taking MSU Military Science courses; advises cadet fund board on policy and procedure for raising money and budgeting the fund for MS cadet club requests; requests and executes US Army Non-Appropriated Funds provided for active duty service members; order items used by the department and gather information to maintain organized departmental files, compose memos, and attend meetings as assigned by the Chair, and perform other duties as assigned.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a business-related field or in a field which corresponds to the particular department of employment; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in office procedures and administration, or in performing responsibilities related to the operational activities of the employing unit; experience in a supervisory role; experience with word processing, database, spreadsheet, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, web page software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Microsoft Access; knowledge of University Manual of Business Procedure, EBS including HR, KFS and BI applications; outstanding oral and written communication skills; good credit rating for duties surrounding cadet fund and non-appropriated fund management.
