The Accountant position will support the financial and operational activities of the Controller’s Office Accounts Receivable Department, including Delinquent Receivables, Delinquent Parking Tickets, Field Trips, and Loans Receivable. The primary responsibilities include initiate, approve, audit, and reconcile financial transactions. Prepare and analyze monthly reconciliation; generate and/or maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and financial statements. Assist with the preparation and analysis of year-end financial statements and related supporting schedules. Will utilize a variety of computer programs to perform job responsibilities. Assist in other operational office functions as needed including assisting with Cash Advances and Returned Checks. The position will serve as backup to the assistant manager and communicate with outside agencies and attorneys as needed.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Accounting; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial statement and report preparation, general ledger accounting and budgeting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Experience in accounts receivable, loans receivable, account reconciliation, Microsoft Office software proficiency, account reconciliation, experience with EBS and SIS (Student Information System), collecting on past due accounts, meeting regular recurring deadlines, and taking ownership of the function while performing in a team environment. Candidate should possess exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and strong writing skills to explain policies and procedures via email and other written correspondence to promote understanding and positive relationships with customers, and knowledge of University policies and procedures.
