Assist in overseeing and coordinating field, greenhouse, and laboratory research activities; plans, designs, and executes experiments; collects, records, organizes and analyzes research data; prepares reports, publications and presentations; maintains field and laboratory equipment; orders supplies; coordinates student labor; helps with laboratory and lecture preparation for HRT 341: Vegetable Production and Management; works closely with other lab group members (graduate students, post-docs, visiting scholars) to insure successful completion of research projects.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in horticulture, agronomy, weed science or related science field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements and performing analytical and research techniques in an area related to research being performed to include field plot technique, agronomic practices and farm equipment operation; knowledge of statistical analysis and computer application; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license. The position may require special licensing or certification in the field related to the area of employment.
Masters degree in horticulture with an emphasis on vegetable production; experience with reduced-tillage production systems, cover crops, weed ecology and weed management; experience towing and operating field equipment; experience with SAS, Sigmaplot, web page design; experience in public presentations and in writing publications.
