Business Intelligence Analyst

Position Summary

Serves as Business Intelligence Analyst and will collaborate with customers, staff, and other stakeholders to gather and analyze reporting requirements; will understand complex data sources and underlying data; will write requirements for the design of reports to improve business knowledge and decisions; will work with customers, staff and stakeholders to see the value of HR data and how to use it; performs analysis for a wide range of requests using data in different formats and from various systems; will work with Assistant Director to determine appropriate reporting tool to be used for each request, validate and test reporting solutions, dashboards and analytics; will adhere to functional, development and quality standards; creates, maintains or reviews  documentation and user training when required. Will query data as needed to validate requirements and test results. Will provide reports/data to requestors as needed.


Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related information technology field related to relational database languages with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in Business Intelligence tools such as Oracle SQL, MS SQL, Access and/or Cognos; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Business system analytical skills; experience with HR/Payroll data and SAP, data analysis; understanding of HR/Payroll processes and procedures; advanced Excel skills such as VLOOKUPs, conditional formatting, charting, and pivot tables; experience writing complex SQL, experience with Query Manager, good business and communication skills; broad based information technology experience in meeting changing business requirements; experience in testing, data/problem analysis, and resolution; flexible and willing to change direction and priorities.
