The Health Care Assistant is responsible for :
- Providing support to the Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders (CBCD) clinic
- Data entry and generating reports for many database systems
- Assisting in research activities including preparing study materials, study inventories, shipping specimens
- Maintaining subject files and data systems
- Triaging patient calls
- Front and back desk medical office support
- Copies, updates and files patients’ charts, obtain needed clinical patient information relating to clinic needs
- Completes and verifies data entry forms and maintains general filing system, monitors supply inventory
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in a medical office performing routine health assessment test; experience in word processing, and database software; a specified medical course such as Nurse Health Aid and Phlebotomy, or Medical Billing and Medical Terminology experience; experience with electronic medical record and patient scheduling systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be a certified medical assistant with current certification.
Working knowledge of electronic medical record systems, business procedures and policies, excellent written and verbal communication skills (doctors’ offices, facilities, and patients) including phone etiquette, working knowledge of MS office programs including excel, access, word, publisher, powerpoint, knowledge about medical billing practices including coding using ICD-9. Database entry and reporting knowledge. Able to work as a team player. Must have exceptional organizational skills. Must have reliable transportation to travel to various outreach locations and meetings during and outside of clinic hours. Must have the ability to cross-cover positions within the scope of practice in the clinic.

This is a limited term position funded for one year from date of hire with possible extension contingent upon funding renewal.
