Position Summary

One Research Associate position is available on a NIH-funded interdisciplinary project applying concepts and techniques from theoretical physics to biomedical and systems biology problems. A Ph. D degree in physics, mathematics, computer science, or related area is required prior to the starting date. Methods including spin glass theory, complex networks, nonlinear physics to analyze large genomic data sets from normal and cancer patients as well as building prognostic models will be utilized. The project involves a direct collaboration with experimentalists at the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute in La Jolla, CA. Please check our recent publication on PLOS Comp. Candidates should have a strong background in statistical physics, programming skills in python, basic knowledge of genetics and biochemistry. The position is for one year and possible renewable for an additional year.
