Position Summary

The MSU Eli Broad College of Business invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Dean for Professional and Masters Programs. Candidates for this position should be qualified for appointment at the rank of associate professor or professor with tenure in an academic department in the Eli Broad College of Business. This position is an annual (12-month) appointment at 100%.

The Associate Dean for Professional and Masters Programs has primary responsibility for curricular and co-curricular innovations in the Broad School professional and master's degree programs including the Full Time MBA program; Executive MBA program; and all master's degrees programs in the Broad College of Business including existing programs in Accounting, Business Analytics, Finance, Management, Strategy and Leadership, Marketing Research, Supply Chain Management, and Hospitality Business and new programs under current and future development.  He or she will also work closely with the Assistant Dean for MBA programs and department chairs to address issues that arise related to student access to specific courses and faculty staffing. 

The Associate Dean for Professional and Masters Programs will serve as a member of the college's leadership team and represent the college on appropriate college and university committees. He or she will report to the Dean of the Broad College and participate in all college-level strategic planning to ensure that the Broad College’s professional and master's degree programs remain at the leading edge of graduate business education.

The duties of the Associate Dean for Professional and Masters Programs includes creating a dynamic collegial work environment that promotes a high performing organization, designing programs and activities that significantly improve job opportunities and student placement, and ensuring that the allocation of resources support the strategic goals of the College and the mission of the University. The ideal candidate should have an ability to successfully encourage faculty and staff investment in college curricular innovations, high quality teaching, alumni and corporate support of the program, and inclusiveness within the student population. The Associate Dean is responsible for curriculum revisions for professional and master's degree programs. He or she will work with program staff to create innovative co-curricular activities to ensure that the curriculum prepares students for outstanding global careers and that the program continues to rise in the rankings.

The Broad College has 108 full-time tenure-track faculty in five departments: Accounting and Information Systems, Finance, Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management and one industry specific unit, The School of Hospitality Business. The work of the College is supported by a 100-person administrative staff and 50 academic specialists. Currently, some 7,700 students are enrolled in the Broad College (approximately 6,600 undergraduates and 1100 graduate and doctoral students), making Broad one of the largest business colleges in the country.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must be qualified for a tenured faculty appointment at the associate or full professor level in an academic department in the Eli Broad College of Business. Candidates should have extensive experience teaching within professional and graduate programs, excellent communications and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to work with faculty and students across disciplines.
