Position Summary

Administers physical therapy treatments under the direction of a physical therapist, as prescribed by physicians in order to provide rehabilitation services to patients and lymphedema treatment; assists in administering treatments to patients under the direction of physical therapists; compiles and evaluates data on patients' responses to treatments in order to report findings to the physical therapist; confers with the physical therapists and other members of the health team in order to evaluate patient information and coordinate treatment plans; schedule patient visits and completes billing forms for services provided; cleans equipment and stocks linen and towels.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical or vocational school with an Associate's degree in Physical Therapy Assistance from a program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in administering physical therapy treatments; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant by the State of Michigan.

Desired Qualifications

Certified Lymphedema therapist; Grastons/ IASTM trained; experience with post operative patients; experience and/or certification in taping (kinesiotape/ McConnell tape)

Work Hours

Schedule to be determined based on clinic needs, with two early (7 am- 5:30 pm) and two late (8:30 am- 7:00 pm) 10 hour working days

Summary of Health Risks

Risks associated with this position include: exposure to human blood, serum, tissue and other body fluids; and materials covered under Universal Precautions; TB risk or work within three feet of patients in a health care setting; wear a respirator.
