The ideal applicant’s research program will utilize state-of-the-art techniques to study neural networks in health and disease. We are particularly interested in applicants whose research complements existing strengths in the Physiology Department and Neuroscience Program in areas such as the peripheral nervous system, motivated behaviors, pain processing,neuroimmunology, metabolism and sex differences. The ideal applicant will be an outstanding investigator with exceptional promise, a proven record of research achievement, the ability to attract funding in their research area, and who will contribute to the highly interactive and collaborative Department of Physiology (http://www.psl.msu.edu) and Neuroscience community (https://neuroscience.natsci.msu.edu) at MSU.
Applicants must hold a PhD, DO, MD, DVM or equivalent degree, with postdoctoral experience and a demonstrated, strong record of research productivity.

The successful applicant must establish and maintain a vigorous, extramurally funded, research program in his/her area of expertise, and contribute to teaching in undergraduate, graduate and/or professional students associated with the Neuroscience Program and Department of Physiology.
Evidence of level-appropriate funding and a strong publication record are required. Laboratory space, start-up funds, and salary will be competitive and commensurate with academic rank and experience.
Required Application Materials
All applications should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, 3-5 page statement of research accomplishments and goals for their independent research program, a one page teaching statement, and up to five relevant reprints. Applicants applying at the Assistant Professor level should attach three reference letters and those who wish to be considered at the Associate or Full Professor levels should provide the names of three or more references at this time.
