Position Summary

The Department of Mathematics at Michigan State University will have one continuing system academic specialist position to begin August 16, 2018.

The successful candidate will work with instructors, graduate teaching assistants, and undergraduate learning assistants to improve their teaching, coordinate and teach introductory-level mathematics courses, and join a large and active group of teaching faculty focused on excellence in service course instruction in the mathematical sciences. The position will include a 1-1 teaching load, primarily focused on introductory courses (e.g. Survey of Calculus). 

A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field at the time of hire is required. Candidates must have a demonstrated instructional excellence in gateway mathematics courses. Extensive experience with developing and/or leading a program in instructional mentoring and coordinating multi-section courses is desirable.
