Representing the College of Education at Michigan State University, this position will serve as the Project/Research Coordinator for two grant-funded, community-based school-to-work transition programs involving adolescents and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their caregivers. Specific projects include: Project SEARCH, which is a school-to-work transition program to support high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities; this program is an interdisciplinary collaboration between MSU, IISD, MRS, Peckham Inc, and other community partners. For more information please visit: http://SpartanProjectSearch.msu.edu; ASSET/EPASS, which involves development and evaluation of the efficacy and effectiveness of a technology-based vocational social skills and employment readiness group training curricula for youth or young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities; this program is also an interdisciplinary collaboration between MSU, DNCAP, MRS and IISD. Specific job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: developing program materials; monitoring progress of various sub-projects; coordinating program activities and events; and scheduling appointments and project volunteers; providing training and supervision to student staff in assessments administration and project implementation; monitoring and reporting on progress of the projects, including writing and revising reports; recruiting research participants, ensuring study protocol compliance; conducting program evaluation; providing human subjects protection oversight, collecting and managing research data; and other duties as assigned to carry out the mission of the College of Education and Michigan State University.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in rehabilitation counseling, special education, psychology, social sciences, social work or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in project coordination; experience collaborating with large, interdisciplinary teams; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; requires Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credentials.
Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, special education, psychology, social sciences, social work or a related field; experience in project coordination in a rehabilitation field; previous clinical and/or research experience in the area of intellectual and developmental disabilities; highly motivated, self-directed, with strong organizational and problem-solving skills; displays a willingness and ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
