Performs and coordinates laboratory experiments involving tissue-based and rodent studies; conducts laboratory assays using biochemistry and molecular biology; performs and oversees rodent behavioral studies; assists in planning of studies, as well as data collection and analysis; oversees compliance with safety regulations and ordering supplies. This is a 60% position and the candidate must be available to work Monday – Friday.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or other related field; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in basic research techniques in the specific or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
One to three years of laboratory experience; experience working with rodents including conducting behavioral studies; knowledge of basic statistical tests commonly used to analyze data from laboratory studies; basic molecular / biochemistry experience; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software; a genuine interest in biomedical research; willingness to work as part of a team that includes undergraduate student researchers.
