KBS Physical Plant Manager
Manages the Physical Plant and Grounds units of the WK Kellogg Biological Station, Lux Arbor Reserve, and Marshall Farms that includes the research and educational facilities, a historical home, Bird Sanctuary, Farm and rental units. Duties include supervision of Maintenance and Grounds Supervisors and Office Assistant; development and administration of short- and long-term operational plans; development of budgets for operations, utilities, and maintenance; manages station utilities and major mechanical systems; oversees the water systems and compiles and prepares reports for the State of Michigan; oversees rental units including management of leases, collection of rent, repairs and improvements. This position reports jointly to the Directors of Land Management (LMO) and W.K. Kellogg Biological Station (KBS). This position is located in Hickory Corners, MI.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a field related to the area of responsibility; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in supervising operational activities related to the area of employment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in maintenance or construction or building systems; budget and financial management. Evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills is desired. Documented administrative and leadership experience.
